Holden
Introducing HOLDEN sofa, by Claudio Bellini for Bernhardt Design, recently presented at NeoCon 2026 in Chicago.
HOLDEN is based on a clear geometric framework, defined by distinct volumes — seat, backrest, and armrests — that relate as a continuous system. The composition develops through adjacency rather than fusion, with proportion guiding transitions and avoiding abrupt contrasts.
The open metal base lifts the upholstered body, making the structure legible while introducing a sense of suspension. It becomes an integral part of the language, articulating the relationship between mass and lightness.
Pitched stitching traces the geometry, reinforcing edges and marking the junctions between surfaces. Upholstery is treated as a constructive layer rather than a purely applied finish.
The project is intended for contract and lounge contexts, where clarity of form and perceptual quality coexist with durability and adaptability.

“A legible structure shaped by proportion, where lightness and detail construct a composed sense of comfort.”
